The
Washtenaw Alano Club offers 12 step meeting space 365 days a year in
a safe, sober environment. The Club contains 3 meeting rooms, a game
room, and a large concession area. There is a good selection of literature
and gifts related to 12 step programs. In addition, the club provides
numerous social activities for people in recovery and their families.
Recovery is a lifelong process and the Washtenaw Alano Club fills a
unique need in the community, supporting recovery for life. The club
serves an average of 1,600 ethnically diverse people on a weekly basis.
There is no “typical profile” of the people who come through
our doors…from the just sober, living in a halfway house, to
the person with long time recovery. Alcoholism, addictions and co-dependency
do no discriminate on the basis of age, race, creed, education or socio-economic
status. Some have been involved in 12 step programs to maintain sobriety
for decades, others are living in a current, sometimes dangerous crisis
situation. It is a home away from home, a safe haven free from drugs
and alcohol in a non-judgmental supportive, atmosphere. All come to
find the experience, strength and hope in fellowship with others.
The Washtenaw Alano Club is a non-profit corporation. Our primary purpose
is to operate a vital support center where 12-step recovery programs can
hold meetings, host social events and provide community-building opportunities
for alcoholics and addicts. We are driven by the belief that everyone deserves
a chance at a life free from the imprisonment of active alcoholism and
addiction.
Since its birth in 1966, the Washtenaw Alano Club has had the privilege of assisting
thousands of people in their recovery. Offering 12 step meetings 365 days a year
in a safe, clean, stable environment the Washtenaw Alano Club provides support
for those in recovery and their families. Each individual who passes through
our doors brings to the group a unique constellation of strengths, beliefs, vulnerabilities
and dreams. |
